EXPERIENCE:
Beginning in my freshman year in College I worked for the 'University of Colorado Televsion' working in everything from engineering through production work. During the war in Vietnam, I designed electronic systems and was part of a team that developed a classified device for the US Military.

To date I have forty years of experience in the consumer electronics industry. Twice I have owned my own business. In my early years, I purchased one-half of an existing stereo/hifi retail operation. As co-owner, I learned the necessary business traits in order to manage a successful, profitable retail organization. During that time, I assisted and advised a Danish company to engineer and design the world's first multiroom audio system. In my later years, I ran my own company, manufacturing computers, doing network design and implementation with custom installation.

Over the years, I have been responsible for assisting in the design and engineering of new products, which include amplifiers, DVD players, Preamp Processors, DSP based systems, CD players, cassette decks, remote control systems, laser disc players, and a video projector. I have also been responsible for organizing and producing videos, as well as books, for educational purposes for dealers. I have learned to use and implement available Japanese, European and Chinese technologies into production lines and products. I, also, learned their way of designing, manufacturing products and doing business.

I have learned to keep cost effective manufacturing at the forefront of design. I have been responsible for manufacturing in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Europe & Mexico, as well as the United States.

I have been Director of Strategic Product Development and effectively doubled a company in a twelve-month period. I introduced four new amplifiers at the end of the year, a new multi-zone surround sound preamplifier & a new keypad and remote control.

In 1994 a unique business opportunity presented itself in the form of a start-up company. I was approached and asked to help get the company off the ground. I helped set-up and run a $20 million a year (after two years) OE manufacturing company using both US and Mexican labor pools.

I have been responsible for the design of products for the worldwide market including the newest global safety standards. I put together a teaching program that taught how products were designed, manufactured and how to install more effectively. Over one hundred and twenty students were graduated.

Some of my responsibilities included the complete management of engineering and product development for a $50 million dollar company. Engineering consisted of a Director and 22 Engineers; a Director of Product Development and 2 Product Development Managers.

My current employment has me designing 90+% efficient digital amplifiers that are utilizing silicon techonologies that are cutting edge from International Rectifier. These new silicon devices are being developed with my assistance for the consumer electronic market. I also have designed DSP systems to control the loudspeaker to achieve it's maximum potential.

I currently serve as Co-Chair on the R3 (Audio) Standards Board of the CEA. I am also a voting member of the CSA revisory board for Audio/Video safety standards. I am currently serving as Co-Chair of the Audio Board for CEA and will be Chairman for 2010-2011. I am also a member of the MRAV council.

Memberships:
Member - SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) since February 1978
Senoir Member - IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.) since December 1977
Member - AES (Audio Engineering Society, Inc.) since 1975

Catherine Cumberland

Born in Fort Smith, Arkansas Catherine holds both a Science Degree and a Registered Nursing Degree.

Catherine has worked and traveled with Tom for the past seventeen years. She manages the company and controlls all the finances. She designed and maintains the CCI website.

"My husband promised me that there would never be a dull moment and I have to say, he has lived up to his word. We have traveled the world and I have swam in three of the five oceans. I have seen more countries and places than I ever thought possible; my two favorite places, so far, is Lucerne, Switzerland and Hong Kong." The best hair cut I have ever had was in Maylasia. The strangest thing I've ever seen was a muslim woman in full atire, including covered head, parasailing in the Indian Ocean.
